COMPETITION NEWS

Golden Comedian of the Year Entries now open

The yellow comedy Golden Comedian of the Year competition 2019 heats will be taking place on Friday 8 March, Friday 29 March and Friday 12 April at Waddington Road Coffee and Kitchen in St. Alban's.

The only qualifications to enter are that you have to be aged 50 years old or older as of the 1st March 2019 and have performed at least 75 comedy shows.

Each heat will have up to 6 acts performing with the winner of each heat going through to the final and earning £25 prize money and the runner up getting £10. Both the winner and runner up will qualify for the final. The audience will decide the winner.

The final will take place at a date to be determined in September where the heat winners and runners up will battle out for a £50 winners prize and trophy. Again the audience will decide the winner. Each spot in the competition will be a 10 minute spot.

Previous winners have included Mad Ron in 2017 and Claire Nelson in 2018.

If you’re interested in taking part you have to email Yellowcomedyuk@gmail.com with the subject - YC Golden Comedian 2019 and then the following info - age, current location, number of comedy gigs you’ve done, where you are based, which dates are your preference for the heats and a video of you performing comedy.

The closing date for entries will be Friday 15 February and we apologise now for not being able to reply to those who aren’t successful in applying.
